In 2018, European Energy took the first step into operating the offshore wind market with the acquisition of Denmark\u2019s Sprog\u00f8 Windpark from Sund & B\u00e6lt Holding A\/S.
\r\n
\r\nThe wind park consists of 7 MHI Vestas wind turbines, which feature a total capacity of 21 MW. The wind park, which was constructed in 2009 as part of COP15, is a key part of our internal offshore strategy.

Technological advances<\/h2>\n

The wind turbines at Sprog\u00f8 were once considered to be very big, but due to technological development and increasing market demand, they do not compare to contemporary offshore turbines. The newest generation of turbines will have a rotor diameter of up to 236 m, and a capacity of around 15 MW per turbines, compared to the about 3 MW of the turbines at Sprog\u00f8.<\/p>\n \n\n\n <\/div>\n\n

New offshore projects<\/h2>\n

European Energy has received the building permits for two new offshore wind parks in Denmark. The parks, Lilleb\u00e6lt Syd and Jammerland Bugt, will combine for a capacity of more than 400 MW and supply up to 380.000 households with green electricity when operational in 2029.
